SPOILERS AHEADS So this blog post is a recommendation from one of my friends, we were watching this movie in Spanish class one day and she told me to write about it so here we are. Keep in mind I haven't seen this movie in a hot minute so were gonna roll with what i remember and my good friend IMDb. To start I really love how this film encompasses the idea of 'always a bridesmaid never a bride' which can also be seen as 'always and angel never a god' which is more self-explanatory. I really love how it goes the extra mile to show that message. Overall I would rate the movie a 9/10. Although of course there are gonna be complaints I will say I don't have many big ones. The first thing that comes to mind for me is the ending, precisely the fact that all of Janes bridesmaids wore their bridesmaid dresses, of course, it's sweet and blah blah blah, but for me, it was such an ick fr. Like she had waited her whole life fantasizing about her wedding and a day that would be about her, all her bridesmaids were standing out there and ruining it for me. But I can understand how some people see that as heart-warming and sweet. Another complaint isn't that big of a deal to me, but it was Jane's attitude towards the beginning of the movie, like I said, I haven't seen this in a minute, but I remember her being so bratty to Kevin for no reason about like her book and everything, like bro c'mon it was a planner, not ur diary get a life. Getting more into characters, I really really really hated her sister Tess for ruining her moms dress; I just wanted to strangle her, but I respect Jane for keeping her cool. The fact that Tess doesn't open her eyes to realize that Jane liked the guy she was marrying annoyed me so much but it honestly played out for the better Tess got what she was asking for when she lied about herself, digging deeper into that, I genuinely don't understand how someone could possibly think they are in love when the person the "love" doesn't even know the real them. It's insane to me how people just lie and are okay with it. She urked me the minute she walked into the airport with that guy carrying her suitcases. Anyways moving on to a more positive note, Kevin. He automatically reminded me of Kevin Jonas with a name like that and his appearance, I mean he's literally a long lost Jonas Brother, but moving on from looks his character development was subtle but it was there, we get to see him basically fall in love with Jane and it's one of the best things in the movie. My favorite scene with him in it was the bar scene when they started singing and of course, kiss right after Kevin says "I cried like a baby at the Keller wedding" (i did have to rewatch the scene ðŸ˜) The fact that they were in a bar implies that they might have been drinking a little and maybe Kevin didn't mean or he didn't want to say that but yk what it's okay they are madly in love by the end of the film. I also really like the fact that Jane didn't chase the first guy (Kevin) who liked her and she kept her distance for a bit and made sure nothing happened that was out of her comfort zone, I respect Jane a lot, I think she is a great role model for Tess, I admire her organization and how much she sacrifices in order to help others, she always finds ways to make it work. I think these are all really good traits that not a lot of people have, now social media might say it's because she's an older sister and yk I partially agree, coming from me, an older sister, I do think that's part the reason she doesn't do a lot of stuff without thinking first. She would be a really good chess player. Moving forward her boss was such an ick from the start i forgot his name and don't feel like looking it up so hes 'the boss' from now on. When he was on screen with Jane i felt lowkey uncomfortable for her, he did not seem like a guy you would want to be left alone with honestly and I still didn't like him at the end of the movie, sure I feel bad for him bc the whole Tess lying thing but bro c'mon you're like 50 calm down. I'm done talking about him, that's all there is about him. Anyways! The boat bride might just be one of my favorite people in this film, the way she was so excited for Jane shows she really is a girls girls which we need more of. This whole boat scene is fantastic because its the moment where Jane truly confesses her feelings for Kevin. It is often called the "get over here" scene because Kevin tells Jane to "get over here" so he can give her a big smooch on the lips (picture me saying this in like a kind of ironic way but like also not, I'm also saying this with a smile on my face, ok? awesome) This scene is basically the ending except for their wedding of course which is beautiful and Jane planned it all but one quote that I wanna mention is this "That day I woke up and put on my 28th dress, I went to a wedding where no one asked me to hold the bouquet, fold a place card, or hold their dress while they peed. Everything was perfect and I didn't care because right then the only thing that mattered was the person waiting for me at the end of the aisle and he was looking at me the way I'd always hoped" This is narration over her walking down the aisle but if we dig into each line it really shows how much joy she was truly capable of and was just now reaching it, more than in the prologue when she decided she loved weddings, more than when she was at anybody else's wedding because this was hers, as she says this was her day and she didn't care that it was the most perfect wedding she had planned she was in love and I think this scene really shows how much love can change your perspective on life. Anyways I think i'm done yapping now but trust if y'all were in front of me this would not be a 5 min read but an hour long conversation. Okay I'm done now, I need to sleep.
